About Me

(he/ him/ his)

I am a University of Utah graduate with years of experience writing in various professional capacities. For the last several years, I have worked full-time remotely as a B2B and B2C support engineer for several workforce management companies. I live with my wife and our two dogs in Silverton, Colorado, a former mining town located at 9,318' elevation in the San Juan mountain range. In the past I’ve lived, worked and played on Oahu, in the Blue Ridge, along the Wasatch Front and Back, and in the Sierra Nevada.

Currently interested in and open to customer support, manual QA, account management, support engineering, leadership, and technical writing opportunities. I am a passionate creative with a breadth of professional experience and personal interests in software, stringed instrument music, farm-to-table food production, the outdoors industry, and journalistic writing. My core ethic is to better my life and the lives of those in my immediate communities through a hard-working, human-powered DIY approach.

I’ve moved off of mainstream social media in recent years due to ethical qualms with how major platforms handle their users' data, so this should substitute as a good way to get to know me a little better!

Hobbies

My wife and I enjoy all things outdoors: we love to backcountry ski, cross-country ski, snowshoe, snowmobile, climb ice and rock, 4x4, canyoneer, cave, kayak, raft, sail, snorkel, surf, backpack, bikepack, mountain bike, and day hike together, bringing the two dogs and other friends along whenever feasible! I collect guidebooks and maps, and have accumulated a fairly extensive library covering much of the remaining wilderness regions in the United States.

We’re also passionate about closing the loop on our own resource production: we grow a large percentage of our own food using aeroponic/ conventional/ passive hydroponics systems and traditional gardening methods, and we also forage, hunt, and fish when we can. I worked as a white-napkin restaurant chef for several years, so we work to utilize those skills and produce the majority of our meals at home from raw and locally-sourced ingredients. We maintain several live culture food projects, such as water and milk kefirs, kombucha, jun, and skyr. We also occasionally run other brewing projects.

The remaining spare time we have outside of work goes to our extended family and friends, community service, working on electrical engineering learning (my wife is a hardware/ firmware engineer), radio projects, reading, playing and listening to music, and other DIY and permaculture projects.

I love to learn, and like to stay busy!
